Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) helps your website appear in search results on platforms such as Google and Bing.
While Eclipse provides the hosting environment, SEO configuration and search engine optimisation are not services we offer in-house.

This guide explains what Eclipse can and can’t support, and provides a basic overview for customers who wish to manage SEO themselves or through a third party.

Important: Support Scope

What Eclipse Support Does NOT Provide

❌ SEO strategy or optimisation
❌ Keyword research or rankings advice
❌ Website content optimisation
❌ Search engine submission management
❌ Google or Bing account setup
❌ Fixing SEO warnings or crawl errors

SEO requires access to website content, structure, and code, which falls outside our support scope.

Our Recommendation

For best results, we strongly recommend working with:

  • A web developer

  • An IT support provider

  • A digital marketing or SEO specialist

They can ensure your website is:
✔ Search-engine friendly
✔ Technically optimised
✔ Properly indexed
✔ Secure and fast

Basic Guide: Getting Your Website Indexed

The steps below are provided as general guidance only and are not actively supported by Eclipse.

Step 1: Ensure Your Website Is Live

Before search engines can index your site:
✔ Your domain must be pointing to Eclipse Hosting
✔ Your website must load without errors
✔ Your site should use HTTPS

Use a browser to confirm your site loads correctly.

Step 2: Create Search Engine Accounts

Most search engines require you to verify domain ownership.

Common Platforms

  • Google (Google Search Console)

  • Microsoft (Bing Webmaster Tools)

These services are free and provided directly by the search engines.

Step 3: Verify Domain Ownership (TXT Record)

Search engines often require a DNS TXT record to verify your domain.

How This Works

  • The search engine provides a verification code

  • You add it as a TXT record in DNS

  • The platform confirms ownership

Refer to:

  • TXT Records for Email Verification (Google, Microsoft, etc.)

Step 4: Submit Your Website for Indexing

Once verified:

  • Submit your website’s homepage

  • Submit a sitemap if available

  • Request indexing

This helps search engines discover your site faster.

Step 5: Basic On-Site SEO Essentials

These items must be handled by you or your developer:

✔ Page titles and meta descriptions
✔ Clean URLs
✔ Mobile-friendly design
✔ Fast page load speeds
✔ Quality, original content

Eclipse does not edit or optimise website content.

Step 6: WordPress Users (If Applicable)

If your site uses WordPress:

  • Install an SEO plugin (e.g. Yoast or RankMath)

  • Generate a sitemap

  • Ensure search engine visibility is enabled

Plugin setup and configuration are not supported by Eclipse.

Common SEO Issues We Cannot Fix

❌ “My site isn’t ranking”
❌ “Google says my site has errors”
❌ “Pages aren’t indexed”
❌ “SEO score is low”
❌ “Search Console warnings”

These require website-level access and expertise.

What Eclipse Can Confirm

✔ Website is accessible at server level
✔ DNS resolves correctly
✔ SSL is active
✔ Server uptime is stable

If these are working, SEO issues are unrelated to hosting.

Summary

Area Supported
Hosting availability ✅ Yes
DNS visibility ✅ Limited
SEO setup & optimisation ❌ No
Search engine accounts ❌ No
Content optimisation ❌ No
Rankings & indexing issues ❌ No

Best Practice

SEO is an ongoing process, not a one-time setup.
For long-term success, using a professional IT or development team will save time and prevent costly mistakes.
