DNS propagation is the time it takes for DNS changes to update worldwide. This can take minutes up to 48 hours.


Before You Change DNS

✔ Website files are uploaded
✔ Email accounts are created
✔ You have the correct nameservers or DNS records
✔ You understand email may briefly pause if records are incorrect


Immediately After Changing DNS (0–2 Hours)

Check These First

  • Domain points to the correct nameservers

  • No typo in DNS entries

  • Old host DNS has not been partially removed

What You May Notice

  • Website loads on some devices but not others

  • Email may work intermittently

✔ This is normal during propagation


During Propagation (2–24 Hours)

Things to Check

  • Website loads without errors

  • SSL certificate starts issuing

  • Email can send and receive

  • Subdomains resolve correctly

What NOT to Do

❌ Keep changing DNS repeatedly
❌ Delete old DNS zones too early


After 24–48 Hours

✔ Website loads everywhere
✔ Email stable
✔ SSL fully active

Where to Check DNS

  1. Log into Eclipse Portal

  2. Open Zone Editor

  3. Review A, MX, TXT, and CNAME records
